<image:caption>Traveling to Juneau, Alaska to visit old college friends and participate in a local 50k race, I had a memorable experience. The Juneau trail system is known for its scenic beauty and challenging terrain. This trip back to an old stomping ground proved to be a destination worth my time.</image:caption>

<image:caption>During our descent, Daniel and I faced a crucial decision. We had to choose between keeping our skis and board on or opting to remove them and down-climb instead. Considering the earlier incident and prioritizing safety, we opted for the more conservative approach. We made the decision to traverse back across the face until we could transition to sharps. The down-climb proved to be relatively straightforward with the aid of crampons & axes. I only strapped back into my board once we reached the beginning of the apron roll-in.</image:caption>

I had paused at the rock outcropping on the left side of the picture to capture the photo of Daniel before veering across the slope towards our intended line. <image:caption>Taking turns leading, we embarked on the exposed traverse, which proved to be an exhilarating and in-the-moment experience. However, as we progressed, we encountered a section that had not been captured in any pictures—a small step-down that presented a challenge. I found myself having to down-climb about three feet and then walk out onto the exposed face. Unfortunately, with a misstep, I ended up sinking into a hole, or rather, the moat of the mountain. Within seconds, my legs were dangling but thankfully my board caught my weight, allowing me to catch my breath and maneuver out by stemming. The realization of climbing autonomously without the security of ropes sank in deeply. In that moment, I had to focus entirely on the situation at hand. After taking a moment to collect myself, I cautiously stemmed out and retraced my steps back up those three feet to safety. Daniel, observing the situation, continued climbing the rock and snow above the snowband and successfully found a new route. ***In hindsight, I got lucky this day.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Our team photo on the summit. After successfully reaching the summit, we wasted no time and swiftly descended the glacier making our way back to camp. From there, we hopped into a 4x4 vehicle that transported us to town. Remarkably, within just a few hours of standing on the summit, we were already en route back to Mexico City, where we caught a plane back to America. Although our trip was relatively short, it was filled with unforgettable moments and held its own unique sense of grandeur. However, looking ahead to future adventures, I have made a decision to bring a snowboard along next time, adding a new dimension of excitement to the experience.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Standing at 18,491’ Pico de Orizaba can be seen from villages hundreds of miles away and is known by skiers & climbers alike as a rapid ascent peak. For the first time in my life, I climbed to elevation in under 7 days and returned home faster than any other big mountain climbing trip I have been on. And to keep this write up short, I will share a series of photos and captions just to keep it moving.</image:caption>

<image:title>Journal - Pico de Orizaba - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>I embarked on the journey to climb Orizaba alongside three incredible individuals whom I had met in Alaska. Each of them possessed their own unique skills and accomplishments that made our team dynamic. Peter, positioned on the far left, had previously served in the special forces and was now pursuing a career in medicine to save lives. Danny, located in the top right, is the CEO of an IT company based in Atlanta, and his passion for pushing limits extended to regularly participating in 100-mile races. Jacob, situated in the bottom right, is an adrenaline junkie who thrives in high-elevation environments. He indulges in the thrill of base jumping, parachuting, and euro style alpinism. Despite our diverse backgrounds, we recognized the allure and feasibility of climbing Orizaba at that particular time of year so we promptly made arrangements to meet in Mexico City. Upon meeting at the airport, we wasted no time and jumped in a Dodge Grand Caravan to take us to a climbers' hostel. The hostel's owners were welcoming, and their culinary skills left us satisfied. However, our stay was brief, as we swiftly gathered our gear and transferred it into a lifted 4x4 vehicle that swiftly ascended to an elevation of 14,000 feet within a matter of hours. Before we knew it, we found ourselves settling into a cozy hut, preparing ourselves for the challenges that awaited us the following day.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The mid-morning hours blessed me with a picturesque scene, featuring a patchwork of sunlight and a blanket of soft powdery snow. As the day progressed rapidly, I found myself engrossed in the moment not feeling the need to pause frequently & capture snapshots. However, amidst the flurry of excitement, I managed to record a video from the top of the line, capturing the prevailing conditions that awaited me during my solo descent. I rode the direct line down and enjoyed another top to bottom run in Little Cottonwood.</image:caption>

With remarkable ease and a touch of flair, he effortlessly conquered the crux, making the mixed climb appear deceptively effortless. Having successfully surmounted the crux, we continued our ascent, following the boot pack that extended straight ahead. Eventually, we reached the summit under the veil of darkness, our efforts rewarded by the achievement of reaching the top.</image:caption>

As Frank maneuvered through the rocky and icy terrain, his skis produced mesmerizing sparks, creating a captivating sight on the mountainside. <image:title>Journal - 4/20/20 Calendar Club Challenge - Make it stand out</image:title>
<image:caption>In April of 2020, I took on the Calendar Club Challenge, hosted by Colin O’Brady and designed by Jesse Itzler. But let me explain something—I accomplished this challenge during the first month of a worldwide pandemic. COVID-19 had skyrocketed my workload, almost doubling it overnight. Balancing a full-time job and pushing myself physically and mentally was a true test of time management. Although my professional work struggled initially, I ultimately bounced back, becoming a top performer year over year. As the challenge began, I became consumed with finding ways to fit everything into a single day. I soon discovered that a one-hour lunchtime bike ride, combined with evening runs, yielded the most effective results. My mornings were fueled by coffee and packed with high-calorie foods, allowing my brain to slip into autopilot mode while I tackled the day's tasks from 9 to 5. By the afternoon, I was ready to push myself to the limit. At the halfway point, I recorded a video explaining my progress and the thoughts running through my mind. Looking back, I'm not sure if my words still hold true today, but in that moment, they felt empowering and inspiring. I was 24.</image:caption>
